A Sycamore at Mallow Run Wedding
This wedding was long awaited! Rick and Jana have been together for seven years! We met them at church and when Gracen was young, Jana babysat for us and several of our friends. We kept waiting and waiting for Rick to propose and last summer he surprised her with the big question and a beautiful ring!
Soon after they began planning their May wedding, Jana’s dad was diagnosed with stage four cancer. They were told he wouldn’t make it to the wedding, but he wanted to see Jana in her dress. The bridal shop allowed her to put her dress and do a first look with him. She sent me pictures of his face when he saw her and it was the sweetest photo. He was so proud of his strong, beautiful girl. They said their goodbyes to him in December so Jana planned several ways to honor him at the wedding. From a photo on her bouquet and his wedding band (made into a necklace) wrapped on her wrist, to his reserved ceremony seat and a father/daughter dance with the special men in her life…he was honored and he was there. The day was mixed with a lot of laughs and some tears, but also a lot of dancing and A LOT of fun!
I’m honored to have been there to photograph it all. A big thanks to Dianne for being my awesome sidekick and second shooter. Rick and Jana–we love you and we are so happy for you!
Jana had her dad’s wedding band made into a necklace that she wrapped around her wrist. Meanwhile the wedding party played golf! The cutest ring security and flower girl you ever did see! Rick made everyone laugh during his vows, and James thought it was funny too! Jana chose her dad’s favorite song, “Free Bird”, for a father/daughter dance and asked six influential men to dance with her. As they danced we looked around to see everyone lighting the room for the special moment. I don’t think there were many dry eyes by the end! People of all ages enjoyed the dance floor!
